David Foster Gallagher, 71, of Weirton, WV, passed away on October 29, 2025.

Born on April 12, 1954, in Levittown, PA, he was the son of the late William S. “Bill” and Joan Pollas Gallagher.

David was a graduate of Marshall University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree before beginning a 20 year career as a Quality Control employee of the Weirton Steel tin mill.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, David also known by his friends as “Toe” ,and to some as “Bwana” was an avid fan of the University of Pittsburgh. He loved cheering on the Panthers, especially when attending bowl games with his close friend, Mike Petrozzi. His passion for baseball and hockey ran deep, and he never missed a chance to catch a game, whether in person or on TV.

Beyond sports, David found great joy in giving back to his community. He volunteered regularly with the Weirton United Way and, their annual Golf Classic. Carrying on his family’s tradition, He was a member of the Williams Golf and Country Club, and member of Cove Presbyterian Church.

David will be remembered for his easygoing nature, quick wit, and the effortless way he connected with people. He loved to laugh, tell a good joke, and never took himself too seriously. His laid-back spirit and kind heart made him a friend to all.

He is survived by his brother, Bruce S. Gallagher and his wife, Kathy; and his dearest friends, Mike Petrozzi and Kathy Cihota, whom he loved dearly.

In accordance with David’s wishes he will be cremated without any forml services.

  14. I met Dave when I started working for WGCC in 2019.
    He was someone you just loved to be around. Always up for conversation when paying his bill and snacking on candy from my dish. He will be so missed!
