Dolores Jean Marinacci Pirraglia
August 6, 1931 ~ June 20, 2021
Dolores Jean Marinacci Pirraglia, 89, of Weirton, a loving mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 20, 2021.
Dolores was born in Weirton, WV, on August 6, 1931, to August and Jennie Marinacci. She had two siblings, Louis Marinacci and Gloria Bergum. Dolores grew up in Weirton and later graduated from Weir High School in 1949.
Dolores married Anthony N. Pirraglia on August 11, 1951, with whom she shared a very ordinary yet meaningful life!
One of the most significant hardships Dolores was ever faced with was when she had to say goodbye to her parents as they moved to California in search of work for her father. As time went on, it was always apparent how much Dolores missed them both.
Dolores is remembered for creating wonderful memories for her family. Every day at 5:00 pm, Dolores insisted that her family sit down together to share a meal. She was there when tragedy struck, and she always took care of family members, including attending multiple visits to the hospital, both near and far! Dolores was the thread that pulled the family together as it was her calling and purpose on earth.
Dolores was a woman of many interests. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and most sports, for that matter. Dolores was also an avid reader and usually finished an entire book over the span of one day. She loved cooking and made the best chicken that everyone bragged about. In addition, one of her favorite things to do was visit family who lived out of town. Dolores’s favorite movie was THE GREATEST SHOWMAN as it always brought her happiness and joy! For many years, she volunteered at Primetime in Steubenville, OH. Dolores always had a passion for and enjoyed getting to know and helping people.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony N. Pirraglia, Sr. and her son, Anthony N. Pirraglia, Jr.
She will be remembered with love by her sons, John (Tamara) Pirraglia and Nick Pirraglia; her daughter, Linda (Mark) Basil; Her grandchildren, Mark (Laurel) Basil; Tina (Eric) Sperlazza, Matt (Natasha) Basil, Chris (Jessica) Pirraglia, Ryan Pirraglia, Maria (Casey) Wildman, August Pirraglia, Nicholas Pirraglia, and Emily (Michael) Knippa. Dolores was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6–8 pm Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton
Dolores’ family would like to thank Dr. Cherian John for caring for her for the last years of her life and the wonderful staff at Serra Village Grace Cottage. They have wings of angels and hearts of gold and shared “I love you’s” every day with her. We also would like to thank Valley Hospice for their kindness, helpfulness, and dedicated support.

Dolores was a wonderful lady. We sang together in one of choirs at St Joseph’s. She had a wonderful laugh! We shared many great stories and enjoyed singing together. May the angels take her home..

John, Linda and Nick, It was with great sadness I learned of your mother’s (my first cousin)passing. I pray and wish you the best dealing with your beloved mother’s passing. It helps knowing she lived a long, happy and productive life as well as the fact she left behind great genes to carry on. Unfortunately, I probably will not be able to attend her services in person but I will be there in spirit. Your first cousin, one removed. Daniel (Dan) James Marinacci, PE
My sympathies to your family. I had so much fun working with Delores at Ohio Valley Hospital when we volunteered in the Gift Shop. She loved her family very much and was always sharing stories.

Dear Linda, John and Nicky, My mother picked your mother to be my Godmother for a special reason…she was my mothers most loving and trusted friend from childhood. I would always love when she came over to visit, she was such a happy and beautiful person who would always talk to me and tell me stories of her and my mother growing up together. She will be greatly missed by all. God Bless her and all of you, Sammy Greco

Dear Linda, John, Nicky & extended family, please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your sweet Mother. I have such fond memories of her growing up on Forest Road. She was always so kind, and had such a gentle, loving nature. She always took care of us kids like we were one of her own, even when we were wreaking havoc. She was very special & we were all blessed to have known her! May God grant her Eternal Rest with you Father, and let the perpetual light shine upon them. I will keep you all in my prayers in the coming days during this difficult time.
With Deepest sympathy, Mary McElwain Orsino
John, Linda, Nick, and family, I am so sorry to hear of Dolores’s passing. She was a sweet, delightful woman. A funny memory from when we were roommates at WVU: She was amazed and had to know, “How did you get Johnny to eat peas?!? How did you cook them???” I always smile when I think of her. I pray that our Lord will comfort you as you grieve her loss. And I hope you may take some comfort in the image of her rejoicing in the communion of saints with our Lord and all the loved ones who preceded her. Love and blessings, Chris Front and Jessica Galvano
We love the idea of planting trees for Dolores. We will be praying for your all as you grieve her loss.
