Doreen Joyce Ivady, 72, of Weirton, died Monday, January 28, 2002, at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born October 30, 1929, in Rainhill, England, daughter of the late George and Mary (Pitchford) Prescott. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve L. Ivady on November 12, 1997, and a brother Norman Prescott. Doreen was a WWII English war bride. Doreen was an Executive Housekeeper for Holiday Inn with 35 years of service. She opened the Steubenville Holiday Inn in 1967 and the Weirton Holiday Inn, Best Western, and Holiday Inn. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Doreen is survived by two sons, Stephen Ivady and his wife Carol of Weirton, and Norman Ivady and his fiancee Sherry Cunningham of Weirton; one daughter, Barbara Ivady Logue of Mt. Lebanon, PA; a sister Hazel Thomas and her husband Harold of Gulf Shores, AL; a sister-in-law, Nellie Prescott of Rainhill, England; five grandchildren, Jason Ivady of Wilmington, NC, Joshua and Seth Ivady of Weirton, and Matthew and Sean Logue of Mt. Lebanon, PA. She is also survived by two nephews, Geoffrey Thomas of Ashland, OH and Christopher Thomas of Mansfield, OH and one great nephew, Craig Thomas of Mansfield, OH. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday, January 30, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A prayer service will be held 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
