Dorothy Kukulski, 93, of Weirton, passed away at her home on December 03, 2011 after a healthy and active life. Dorothy moved to Weirton as a child and remained there her entire life. She graduated from Weir High School and then went to work at the Weirton Steel General Office before she was married. Dorothy played bridge and enjoyed bowling, as well as golfing well into her senior years. She was active in the Serbian Women's Club at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church, always willing to help out with bake sales, rummage sales and church picnics. She was interested in current events, politics, and especially sports. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Stinson of Texas and Dolores (Stephen) King of California; grandchildren, Carey and Casey Stinson, Lisa (Stuart) Jeffcoat and Melissa (Brent) Ellis; her nephews and their wives, Andrew and Janice Lubanovic and Richard and Dorothy Lubanovic all of Youngstown, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV where funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9AM with the Very Reverend Father Rade Merick officiating. Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Dorothy's family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors and friends for their kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 North 4th Street, Steubenville, OH 43952.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Barbara, so sorry to hear about your mom. She sure was a grand lady and lived a wonderful life. Glad that i got to see her at our reunion picnic.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about “Aunt” Dorothy, I’ll never forget her nutbread. It was the best ever. I didn’t even like to taste other peoples’s as I knew that it would be a disappointment in comparison. My love to Barbara and Dolores.

  3. I send my sympathy, I knew Mr & Mrs Kukulski as a child. She must have had a good life to live so long. What a nice person she was as I knew her. Sorry for the loss, God has a special person now.

  4. Aunt Dorothy was always so good to our family. We enjoyed our trips to WV to see her. She will be missed.

  5. Dorothy always had a big smile and a hug for me. Nephew George and my Dad, Butch, were great friends. I have fond memories of her in and around the Serbian community. Memory Eternal.

  6. Her energy and vitality right up to the end belied her years. I was lucky to be her neighbor, however briefly. She always had a friendly smile and a wave for me. My condolences to her family for the loss of this lovely lady.

  7. Barbara, Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved mother. There is no doubt that her passing will be a great loss to all who knew her. Sincerely, John & Janet Backel

  8. For the first time in many years, I spent some time talking with your mother this past summer. She was doing some yardwork, and lugging some debris across the road and dumping it over the hill…effortlessly! She recently called me and asked if I would take her to vote. Of course I did. She updated me on you guys, even telling me about “Barney.” She was proud of you guys. I only wish that I had spent more time talking with her.

  9. I loved my Aunt very much. She had a cheery personality, a smile for everyone, and honest, loving concern for all she knew. She was one of the few people who remembered my mother, her sister-in-law, and called on the phone just to say, “hi”. I will miss hearing her uplifting voice, but will see her in Heaven!
