Dr. Rose E. Cerroni
March 29, 1930 ~ June 20, 2011
Dr. Rose E. Cerroni, 81, of Weirton, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Laurels of Steubenville, OH. She was born March 29, 1930 in Weirton, the daughter of the late Lawrence Joseph and Elizabeth (Cardell) Cerroni. Rose was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Dr. Lawrence Cerroni and Dr. Nicholas Joseph Cerroni.
Rose earned her doctorate degree in Cellular Physiology from Vanderbilt University and studied abroad. She retired from the Franciscan University of Steubenville where she taught science for many years. She was a Professor to undergraduates as well as those seeking Doctorates. She was a parishioner of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, a member of the Catholic Daughters Society and the Tri-Delta Sorority, a board member of the YWCA, enjoyed helping others, and was a big fan of the opera.
Rose is survived by her two nephews, Mark Cerroni, and Christopher Cerroni and his wife Kristie and their two sons, Chayton and Jared.
Friends will be received Sunday 2-6PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Augustine as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.

Rose was my best friend in college, at the old College of Steubenville. She was a part of my family as if she were born to my parents. Many times during our college days I stayed at her home and knew her parents and brothers well. She visited with my Mother even after I moved away. We all loved Rose. Dr. Cerroni was a wonderfully spirited and energetic professor that cared greatly for each of her students and taught us all the value of the sciences as well as love for life and one another.
