Dustin Ericson Grimes

Dustin Ericson Grimes, 35, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at UPMC, following a battle with liver disease.

Born on September 27, 1990, in Weirton, Dustin was the son of Donald E. and Sandra J. (Shields) Grimes. He was a 2009 graduate of Big Red High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. Following high school, he attended Concord College for one year.

In recent years, Dustin returned to Weirton, where he found great happiness and love with Mareesa Savage, who became the love of his life. He was employed on the production line at Barney’s Bakery, where he was known for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature.

Dustin had a deep appreciation for life and adventure. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, attending comedy shows and concerts, and surrounding himself with music. A naturally gifted musician, he could play by ear and especially enjoyed the keyboard and trumpet. Dustin was also a gifted speaker. He was fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, and often the comedian in any room, always eager to make others laugh.

He was a Methodist by faith, influenced by his maternal grandparents, both of whom were Methodist ministers.

Dustin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Robert Shields and his paternal grandmother, Meta “Meme” Ann Grimes.

He is survived by his loving parents, Donald and Sandra Grimes of Weirton; his sister, Erika Grimes of Weirton; his girlfriend, Mareesa Savage; his maternal grandmother, Rev. Betty Shields; his paternal grandfather, Donald Grimes; Paternal great – grandmother, Yevette Grimes;and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A brief graveside service will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Restwood Memorial Gardens, Madam’s Creek, WV, where Dustin will be laid to rest beside his grandfather.
