effie mousadis

Effie Mousadis, 78, of Weirton, WV passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on September 6, 1945, Effie was one of three children born to William and Mary (Kannas) Bouloubasis. She was a beacon of love, patience and generosity, always putting others before herself.

Effie graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College, marking the beginning of a life full of devotion and commitment. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with the City of Pittsburgh as Director of Mayor’s Service Center. On September 1, 1974, she married James Mousadis. Together they nurtured a family and built a life over 49 wonderful years until James’ unexpected passing in May 2023. Their marriage was blessed with two sons and two grandsons, who brought immense joy to Effie’s life.

Her husband James, a US Army veteran, and electronics expert at Weirton Steel, built a successful real estate and rental business for forty years. Effie was the meticulous and diligent bookkeeper. Effie’s keen attention to detail and steadfast work ethic were vital to their success.

Known affectionately as “Yia Yia” by her grandsons, Effie was the heart of her family. Her life was a testament to the values of love, care, and devotion. She was an active and beloved member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, where she participated in the Ladies Philoptochos Society, further displaying her commitment to faith and charity.

Effie’s memory will be forever cherished by her loving sons, John and Jimmy (Kristi) Mousadis; her adored grandsons, James and Alexander Mousadis; her brothers, John and James Bouloubasis; her nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and her All Saints Church family.

  9. Effie, my first cousin, was one of my first friends and remained a steadfast friend for life. She was incredibly smart and kind, like her mother, my Aunt Maritsa, and fun loving and gregarious, like her father, my Uncle Bill. I think of them often and miss them terribly. Marcy joins me in extending our deepest sympathy to your family who you were, rightly, so proud of.
