eileen mrvos
Eileen Frances O’Donnell Mrvos, a loving mother and grandmother of Weirton WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was 94 years old. Born in Cuddy, PA, on November 13, 1925, Eileen was the fourth child born to William and Thais Larkin O'Donnell. She moved to Weirton at the age of five when her father was employed at Weirton Steel. After World War II, Eileen met "The love of her life" George "Chuck" Mrvos at a dance held at Marland Heights Pool, and the couple was married on April 20, 1947. With over 60 years of marriage, Eileen and Chuck were blessed with three daughters, four granddaughters and three great-grandsons, and a great-granddaughter. Chuck worked as a stove tender and turn foreman in the blast furnace, and Eileen took care of the home. Over the years, Eileen worked part-time at Weirton Market and then at the Flower Hut in Weirton. Later, in life, she loved volunteering her time at the Weirton Senior Center as she greeted everyone who walked in the door. Most of all, Eileen will be remembered for the love she had for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her most cherished times in life were when she was with them. She attended most of their activities and enjoyed every minute. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Eileen loved her. She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, KCC Vidovdan, and the Past President of the Marland Heights School PTA. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, George “Chuck” Mrvos, on December 15, 2007; her brother, William O'Donnell; and her sisters, Thais Blatnik and Kathryn Charlton. She will be remembered with love by her three daughters, Kathy (Ed) Bowman, Millicent (Mitch) Zack, and Patti (Howard) Craighead; her grandchildren, Kristin (Ron) Cross, Nicole (Craig) Hasley and Kelly and Julie Craighead; her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Colin “G” Cross, and Aris and Reese Hasley. Private family visitation and funeral will be held on Friday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Rev Father Stefan Djoric will preside. Interment will follow at the Serbian Cemetery in Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church or the Weirton Senior Center.
