Ethel V. Smith, 73, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born July 16, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Vivian Joyce Bennett Whaley. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and, in 1975, worked as a clerk for Sun Valley Grocery. She was a member of the Oakland United Presbyterian Church. Ethel is survived by her husband Robert A. "Smitty" Smith of Weirton; daughter Deborah M. Cunningham and her fianc Randy D. Kester of New Cumberland, WV; brother Darrell E. Whaley and his wife Marie of South Carolina; grandson Christopher M. Cunningham and his wife Rebecca of New Cumberland; nine nephews and 14 nieces. Friends will be received Saturday from 1-3 and 6-8 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Sunday. Pastor Curt Watkins will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakland United Presbyterian Church.
