eugene sutton
Eugene Sutton, 76, of New Cumberland died Friday January 9, 2009, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on March 20, 1932, in New Cumberland, WV, the son of the late Nathaniel Atwell and Helen Ralston Sutton. Gene was also preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Flowers. Gene retired after 39 years of service in the Strip Steel of Weirton Steel, where he worked as a rigger. He also repaired and sold lawn mowers and small engines and outdoor sporting goods. He was a member of the 1949 Weir High Football Team that won the WV State Championship. At the age of 16 Gene earned his airplane pilots license, and following graduation from high school he served his country in the US Army. Gene enjoyed watching NASCAR, hunting, fishing, camping, and racing go karts. He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Gene is survived by his wife, Kay McKenna Sutton, whom he married on May 30, 1952; his daughters, Terri and Robert Marino of New Cumberland, WV and Bonnie and David Kuzma of Weirton, WV; his three grandchildren, Melissa Radue and her husband Lance, Ryan and Ashley Kuzma; his great grandson, Brayden Radue; and his extended family Rhonda and Daniel Crago and their children, Kyle, Kevin and Carly. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday. Isobelle Bell and Rev. Curt Watkins will preside. Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.

I think Eugene use to call me, ‘chattter box’, and I still amhe made me smile. May you remember all the happy family gatherings and memories of times gone by when he was well and full of fun. Keep them close to your hearts and he will be forever with you. Our Lord is holding him in his arms amd has taken all Eugene’s pain away.   14. It has been almost 5 months since we said our goodbyes and said our “I love yous.” We miss you so much but we know that your in a better place Dad. We know that your walking and doing everything that you wanted to do while you were sick. We think of you all the time and wish we could say I love you just one more time. There is a void in our lives that will never go away. We love you Dad!

  15. We miss you so much Dad……apart of us is gone forever. You loved the holdays so much and it’s never going to be the same without you.
