It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Sagan announce her passing. She died peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Frances A. Sagan was born in Weirton, WV on March 2, 1925. She was the daughter of John J. Massler of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Anna Szara Massler of Poland. She was the youngest of three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley L. Sagan, her infant daughter, Rita Anne Sagan, her parents, and her siblings Henry (Hank) Massler and Helen Gambos. She graduated from Weir High School and following graduation pursued a career in the secretarial field working for Carl Frankovitch, Attorney of Law. In 1947 Fran married Stanley Sagan and had four children. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Sagan was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the women’s choir, Christian Mothers, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and volunteered her time at the church’s elementary school. In 1968 Fran worked at the Strip Steel Credit Union where she remained for 15 years. Along with her husband, Stanley, she enjoyed being a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club. Fran Sagan is survived by her children and their spouses, Daniel L. Sagan and Brenda of Midlothian, VA, Janna Sagan Mann and Bob of Banner Elk, NC and S. Robert Sagan and Patty of Warrenton, VA. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Heather, Rebekah, Daniel and Noel along with thirteen great-grandchildren. Fran will be lovingly remembered for her warm and caring heart. Her life was devoted to God and family and blessed with dear friends. She was an amazing and inspiring woman who will be dearly missed but will remain in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13th from 5:00 – 8:00 at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home in Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton.   1. I personally have so many fond memories of Fran, especially at the house assisting with the computer. She was always so gracious, and we always enjoyed a coffee together.   8. Dear Janna and family, I’m so sorry that Jack and I are out of town and won’t be able to personally pay our last respects to your dear mom. I will always remember her with that eternal smile and pleasant personality. When your dad would come to my house and get a haircut your mom would come and keep me up to date on you and any other good news around the area. She was a special woman in my eyes and I will always admire the way she quietly helped keep our little church running. Thank you and your family for sharing such an amazing woman with Jack and I.
