Fred Joseph Cacace, 86, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 in the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. Born July 23, 1923 in Clarksburg, WV, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Theresa Borgese Cacace. He was also preceded in death by his wife Katherine M. (Gubitti) Cacace on January 22, 2008, brothers Patsy Cacase and Guy Cacace and sister Mary Cacace. With 41 years of service, Fred retired from Weirton Steel where he served as a millwright. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Post 10, VFW #2716 and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Cacace is survived by his son Fred V. Cacace and his wife Marietta of Fairfax Station, VA; daughter Valerie Truax and her husband Steven of Weirton; brother Jim Cacace of Columbus, OH; sisters Carmelina Prozzi of Bellevue, PA and Loretta Alfe of West Palm Beach, FL; granddaughter Alyssa Cacace and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
