Fred Rodgers

Fred Rodgers, 72, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born December 12, 1936 in Brooke County, WV, he was a son of the late Fred and Bertha Rodgers. He was also preceded in death by his wife Bessie Mae Warrick Rodgers on May 2, 1984 and brothers Dennis “Sonny” Reitter and Chuck Reitter. With 33 years of service, Fred retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a door operator in the Coke Plant and also on the barges. He was a member of the WSX 25-Year Club and was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. Mr. Rodgers is survived by his sons Fred and his wife Wendy, Rich, Jeff and his wife Patricia all of Weirton and Dennis Rodgers and his wife Dee Dee of Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Monday.
