Gatha Ruth Pensis

Gatha R. Pensis was born to Lanty and Local Bell Webb Dilly in Richwood, WV, on April 21, 1930. When she was eight years old her family moved to Toronto, OH. She had a sister, Gladys “Sissy” Dilly, who passed away in 1949, and a brother, Ralph. Gatha graduated from Toronto High School in 1948. On November 10,1950, she married Dr. Leonard C. Pensis. Together they had four children. Gatha assisted her husband for 39 years in their veterinarian practice, the Hilltop Animal Hospital, in Paris, PA. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She loved to read and watch football and baseball. On August 24, 2003 Gatha passed away in West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Leonard C. Pensis of Paris, PA, and their children, Gary Leonard Pensis of Martinsburg, WV, J.B. and Valerie Pensis of Paris, PA, Michele and Bill Freeland of Weirton, WV, and Kathy Pensis of Paris, PA; her brother, Ralph V. Dilly of Toronto, OH; six grandchildren, Gatha and Serafina Pensis, Billy and Salena Freeland, and J.B. and Jared Pensis. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM Wednesday at the Christ United Methodist Church, 3598 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV. Interment will follow at the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Florence, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
