George A. "Jeff" Boocks, 89, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born November 23, 1921 in Cushing, OK, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Margaret Logue Boocks. He was also preceded in death by his wife Clara E. Battista Boocks in 1994, sister Jessie Rodgers and brothers Robert and Bill Boocks. With over 26 years of service, Mr. Boocks retired from the Weirton Post Office where he worked as a letter carrier. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, VFW 2716, American Legion Post 10 and D.A.V. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the European Theatre and was with the first group of soldiers in the Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. George is survived by his son Jeffrey L. Boocks of Weirton; daughter Janine Boocks of Mansfield, Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 9 until the 10am Funeral Liturgy with Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
