Loving husband and father, George G. Raveaux, 81, of Weirton, who had never met a stranger, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born October 14, 1928 in Weirton, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Nusser Raveaux. He was also preceded in death by his sister Gertrude Costello and son-in-law Gary Shultz. With 38 years of service, Mr. Raveaux retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as an Engineer in the Transportation Department. A member of the Weir High Class of 1946, he was a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church and WSX 25-Year Club. He served as Past Exalted Ruler and Secretary of the Elks Lodge 1801. George was a former coach for the Weirton Termite baseball league. He enjoyed gardening and riding his motorcycle. While not making his homemade wine, Mr. Raveaux also enjoyed cooking and baking. George is survived by his wife Dorothy Robb Raveaux; son Bradley Raveaux and his wife Judy all of Weirton; daughters Cathie Shultz of Bergholz, OH, Cindee Salopek and her fiance, Gene Guglielmo of Weirton and Trudy Scarr and her husband Stuart of Skaneateles, NY; 8 grandchildren April Harbert, Mark Konchar, Shauna Musulin, David and Jeff Raveaux, Rachael and Tanner Scarr and Michael Shultz and 5 great grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where a Weirton Elks Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM. Funeral Services will be celebrated 11AM Saturday in the funeral home with Reverend William Stout presiding. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, 121 Ivy Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
