gladys trzaskoma
Gladys Mary Trzaskoma of Weirton, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the Weirton Medical Center on Sunday, February 6, 2022. She was 93 years old. She was born in Toronto, OH., on November 22, 1928, a daughter to the late Vincent and Anastasia Malyszko Lebecki. Gladys nourished her faith at Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and was a member of the 1946 graduating class of Toronto High School. If you knew Gladys, people would say she enjoyed getting out of the house. She enjoyed an evening of bingo at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, going to Mountaineer, dancing to a good polka or two, a trip to Myrtle Beach or just enjoying an ice-cold beer. She was very family oriented looking forward to days spent with her grandchildren. Gladys retired from Islay’s Restaurant on Main Street in Weirton as a waitress and a clerk. She would often see the same people patronize the restaurant day in and day out and they were always happy to see her. The life-long friendships and relationships she built with her customers were ones she always held near to her heart. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Frank Trzaskoma on October 9, 1991, her brother Stanley Lebecki and sister Janie Anderson. Left to cherish her memory with love and admiration are her sons, Richard (Elizabeth) Trzaskoma of Toronto, Stephen Trzaskoma of Weirton, daughters, Catherine Trzaskoma of Weirton, Janet (Thomas) Brannan of Mansfield, OH., Joanne (David) Thomas of Brownstown, MI., grandchildren Richard Trzaskoma, Alaina Leasure, Thomas “TW” Brannan and Marisa and Lauren Thomas; great-grandchildren Paxton Trzaskoma, Livianna Leasure, Francezka Trzaskoma and Deacon Leasure and sister Helen Visneski of Kingsport, TN. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday at Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 601 Loretta Ave. Toronto, OH. Interment will be in Toronto Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys’s memory to Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 200 Preston Ave., Weirton, WV. 26062 or Stjude.org. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com.
