Gladys Virginia Cox, 95, of Weirton, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at her home. Born February 20, 1917 in Doddridge County, WV, she was a daughter of the late William Lewis and Lummie Jane Vanverth Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband Nelson Delmas Cox on December 18, 1998; son David Nelson Cox; brothers Edmund, Henry, Wilmer and William Cole and sisters Mamie Sperry, Charlotte Gum, Stella Mae Hall and Lisette Williams. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church. She also served as Vice-Regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Gladys is survived by her son Richard Nelson Cox of Weirton; daughter Sharon Lee Floyd and her husband Jack of Keyser, WV; grandchildren John Floyd, William Floyd and his wife Sue and Lisa Floyd and great-grandchildren Bill and Tom Floyd and Jermy Johnson. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 until the 10:30 funeral service at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church. The Reverend William C. Stout will preside. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Losing mother has taken about 70% out of me spritually and emotionally, as after ten years of caregiving we had become more closer spiritually than many married people and now my “little golden egg” is broken.
