Gregory Anthony Ficca
February 19, 1951 ~ November 27, 2025
Born in:
Steubenville, Ohio
Resided in:
Weirton, West Virginia
Gregory Anthony Ficca, 74, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 19, 1951, one of six children to Dolfo and Rita (Sciarretti) Ficca.
Greg was a 1970 graduate of Brooke High School. During his high school years, he met his high school sweetheart, Donna. Even though they attended different schools, the two married on April 14, 1972, and spent 53 wonderful years together.
After high school, Greg attended Pittsburgh Technical College for masonry. He became a skilled bricklayer and dedicated 46 years to Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, retiring in 2017. Even after retirement, he continued laying brick, a craft he loved.
Greg was hardworking, funny, and undeniably one-of-a-kind. A true firecracker with a warm heart, he never met a stranger, only future friends. Though widely known as Greg, his greatest joy came from being “Pappy.” His grandchildren were the center of his world. Pappy never missed a game, event, dance, or moment to cheer them on. His love for them was steady, strong, and always present.
In his free time, Greg enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, which were fishing, hunting, attending car shows, enjoying his favorite foods, rooting for Notre Dame football, and caring for his 1967 Chevy truck. His presence was larger than life.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Dolfo Ficca; his nephew, Mario Ficca; and his treasured fur baby, Cocoa.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Donna Kay (Snape) Ficca; his mother, Rita (Sciarretti) Ficca; his son Gregory (Bridget) Ficca; daughter Tammie Moore; brothers Ronnie (Jennifer) Ficca and Randy (Bonnie) Ficca; sisters Sandy (Bob) Marshall, Judi (Harry) Ickes, and Madonna (Rick) McCoy; grandchildren Lexus Ficca (Wyatt Schrader), Trevor Ficca, Myleigh Ficca, and Brielle Ficca; brother-in-law Tom (Judy) Snape; many nieces and nephews; and his sweet fur companion, Oreo.
Visitation will be held at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 4:00–7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Fr. Anthony G. Thurston will preside.

Greg will be missed by the many lives he touched along the way. He was always smiling and ready to make you laugh. He was all that a person should strive to become. Hard working, great family man, great friend and a giving man. I will miss running into him whether it was at Busy Beaver in Weirton or at his Aunt Vicky’s. Rest in Peace.
