Helen Yazevac Vujaklya, 91, of Hurricane, WV, formerly of Weirton, died Sunday March 19, 2006, at her daughter’s home. She was born to the late Eli and Mildred (Tepsic) Yazevac in Seminole, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1915. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bozo (Bob) Vujaklya on December 14, 1978; her brothers, Alexander, Samuel, George, Mike, and John Yazevac; her sisters, Katie Morris and Betty Kendrick. Helen was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church in Steubenville, OH. She is survived by her daughter, Edna and her husband B. Joseph Nicely of Hurricane, WV; sisters, Anne Polewac of Wellsburg, WV, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Polewac of Weirton, WV, Mrs. Shep (Mildred) Levine of Oceanside, NY, Evelyn Bertovich of Avella, PA, and Jane Yazevac of Long Beach, NY, Sally Wilson of Weirton, WV; her grandchildren, Helene Renee Nicely and Katrina Jovan Locke of Phoenix, AZ. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11AM Friday. The Very Reverend Father Rade Merick will preside. Interment will follow at the Serbian Cemetery, Weirton, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Building Fund, 528 North Fourth Street, Steubenville, OH 43952. I will always think of Helen as a sweet, gentle soul. Anytime I saw her she was always in a good mood and smiling. God has wonderful things in his paradise for Helen. I will miss not seeing her again, but I know she is in the safety and peace of God’s care.
