Irene Plaso, 88, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center. She was born April 28, 1921 at Weirton, a daughter of the late John and Stephanie Kolodziejska Domolewicz. She was also preceded in death by her husband John J. Plaso on July 29, 1992; two brothers, Edward and William Domolewicz and her sister, Genevieve Domolewicz. Mrs. Plaso was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, where at one time was very active with the Christian Mothers, and the Rosary Society. She also served as the Sacred Heart of Mary School Librarian for many years. In her retirement years, Irene enjoyed crocheting, and spending time with her family. Just about every Tuesday morning, she could be found enjoying raisin bread french toast, at Eat'n Park, with her son John. Irene is survived by her son John S. Plaso and his wife Lolita of Weirton and two grandsons Michael and Shandel of Weirton and Stephen and Nancy Plaso of New Philadelphia; one great grandson, Shain. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Friday at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Kent Durig will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum , Weirton. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sacred Heart of Mary Memorial Fund, 200 Preston Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.   1. Ciocia Irene will be missed by all of us. She was like a grandmother to all of my children. We will miss having her at our family functions. I will miss those phone calls a lot. Rest in Peace dear Ciocia.

  16. Dear Plaso Family, I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Plaso’s passing. Growing up in Sacred Heart of Mary Church I had the honor of speaking to her often as she and my mother Genevieve were friends. I will always remember her for her warmth, sincerity and strong Christian ideals that were an example to everyone.
