James N. “Jimmy” Gallias, 76, of Weirton, passed away Monday, November 01, 2004 in the Palliative Care Unit of Valley Hospice in Steubenville, OH. Born June 6, 1928 in Weirton, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anastacia Sarandou Gallias. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Venezelos, Steve and his twin brother, Harry Gallias. Jimmy retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Tin Mill. He was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, VFW Post 2716, All Saints Choir, All Saints Greek Senior Citizens, AHEPA and was a former board member for the Tin Mill Credit Union. He also served in the Korean War with the 223rd Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. Jimmy’s survivors include his wife Mary Papoulas Gallias of Weirton, whom he married October 26, 1958; daughters Stacey Monroe and her husband Sam of Sarasota, FL and Liberty and her husband Michael Crossetti of Charleston, SC and five grandchildren Eric and Aaron Giannaris and Andrew Monroe of Sarasota, FL; Brittany and Sierra Crossetti of Charleston, SC. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10 until the 11AM funeral service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church with Reverend Father Terry Linos presiding. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military services conducted by the VFW Firing Squad and the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10.
