Jessica M. Dettore, a loving, kind, and remarkable woman, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 4, 2020, from complications that originated from diabetes. The third-born child and baby girl to James W. and Pauline Maczko Reid, Sr. Jessie grew up in Burgettstown, PA, and graduated from Union High School. After high school, Jessie studied theatre. Theatre was her passion and rewarded her with a lifetime of blessings. Theatre is where she met the love of her life, soulmate, and best friend, her husband Rich, and the two of them were able to give back to the Weirton community by providing arts and culture to the area youths and adults. In addition to her 15-year employment with Weirton Steel, Jessie was the Founder, Director of Weirton Community Players, and Drama 1 Direct Studio of the Arts. Jessie had an eye for talent, and when she discovered you, you could not say no to her. Jessie’s commitment to the Arts was recognized by the City of Weirton when she was inducted into the Weirton Hall of Fame. Jessie found joy in giving to others. She loved to shop but could not wait to give her gifts to her husband, nieces, nephews, and family. She also had an eye for interior design and decorating. Most of all, Jessie will be remembered for the love she shared for 35 years with her husband, Rich. Their relationship was like her, unique, and one of a kind. They were truly blessed. Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, James Willis Reid, Jr. She will be remembered with love by her husband, Richard S. 2. I walked into a studio downtown Weirton about 30 years ago to audition for something called the Weirton Community Players . I met Jessie and Richard and immediately they made me feel welcome. I never had that feeling like that before from complete strangers. I will never forget Jessie, my dear neighbor and my beautiful friend with a beautiful soul.

  3. Richard, I am so sorry to hear about your beloved wife. You were such a great friend to me when I was in the hospital for 3 months last summer and really helped make my stay there more bearable! May she rest in peace. John Pronchik

  4. Rich, I’m so sorry for the loss of your wife. I remember how happy you were when you and Jessie were working on a theatre project. I remember how you worried about her health so many years ago. With affection, Lee Ann Mott Aul

  6. There are no words to describe the generous heart & spirit that was Jessie…. working with her during the filming of SUPER 8 gave me the chance to get to know her & enjoy her. She was a doer, a difference-maker, a person that would try her best to make you happy about who you are – a rare find. So sad for you, Richard, but so glad Jessie’s journey has taken her to Heaven🙏 We will not forget her & we will see her again. Deb Witkowski

  7. My condolence to you Richard on your wife’s passing. I didn’t ever meet her, but knew you from the hospital. I’m sorry for your loss, this is sad, she was too young.

  8. “If you’re a tree, be the best tree you can be.” Jessie’s wonderful father was right. She was indeed that. So deeply sorry. My husband and I pray for the Lord’s comfort and peace be with you, Richard during this difficult time and the days ahead. God bless you and her entire family.
