john barlow

John Davis Barlow, a cherished husband, devoted father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born on January 4, 1933, in Edray, West Virginia, John was a man who filled the lives of those around him with love, laughter, and unwavering spirit.

John dedicated over forty-two years to the open road as a truck driver, a role he embraced with passion and pride. For two decades, he graced the Weirton area while driving for Weir-Cove Moving and Storage, where he became a familiar and beloved figure. In his heart, he carried the memories of countless journeys and the joy of adventure his profession offered.

John served his country proudly in the United States Army.

He shared an extraordinary bond with his wife, Mary Ohler, with whom he spent over forty-five wonderful years. Mary often reflected, “There will never be another man like John.” Their love story was one of warmth and companionship, often marked by spontaneous jitterbug dances that brought them joy, and countless family trips to Ocean City, Maryland, where laughter echoed in the air.

A faithful member of the Open-Door Baptist Church, John not only nourished his faith but also actively participated in the community, frequently stepping in to deliver heartfelt messages when the minister was absent. His commitment and generosity echoed through the lives he touched.

John found joy in simple pleasures, whether it be playing pool, hitting the golf course at Brooke Hills Park, or tending to his cherished vegetable garden, which he eagerly shared with family and friends. He never missed a chance to keep up with the news or cheer on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Barlow, Dale, Bill, and Eddie Walker, sister Louise Walker.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Barlow; sons John (Marleen) Barlow, Robbie (Vicki) Richardson; daughters Teresa (Kurt) Pawlowski, Stacey Kelley, and her fiancé, Shawn Duvall, and Tammy (Tim) Carter with sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, and his cat, Kitty.

But most especially, John loved to see his great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Kelley; they had formed a special bond.

John’s request for cremation will be honored.

He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

John will always be remembered for his gentle heart and the warmth he brought to every gathering, his spirit living on in the hearts of all who knew him.

John will be inurned at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, in Bridgeville, Pa., where military honors will be provided by the United States Army, and VFW Post 1810 Honor Guard.
