john mcie
John Fay McIe, of Weirton, WV, a loving husband, father, and caring pap, died suddenly on May 9, 2021, after a recent hospitalization. He was 80 years old. John was born in Catawba, WV, on July 22, 1940, the son of Fable McIe and Wilma Swisher Perrine. He was also raised by Pat Perrine. In 1958, Johnny and his friends attended a tent revival in Haller Park, where he met a pretty young lady playing the piano. On May 23, 1959, he married Norma Cole. Jesus has always been in the center of their lives. Together they helped with the construction of Victory Life Church, where they have been members for over forty years. Johnny was offered a signing bonus of five thousand dollars to pitch for the Pittsburgh Pirates but turned it down because Weirton Steel just hired him. Shortly after he was hired, Johnny was laid off, and with his love for cars, he opened up the Certified Gas Station in Weirton. After selling the gas station, he owned and operated Johnny’S Auto Mart in Weirton until his retirement. Every Friday, Johnny loved going to Rogers, Ohio, to sell and give away toys to the children. If you knew Johnny, this would not surprise you. It was never about Johnny; it was always about giving to others, especially to his granddaughters, step-grandson, and great-grandchildren. He and his wife would rescue cats and volunteered many hours to the Hancock County Animal Shelter. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Johnny was preceded in death by his two sisters, Janice Stafford and Shirley Kosut. Johnny is survived by his wife, Norma Cole McIe, his daughter, Deborah (Mitch) Kimball, his granddaughters, Heather Apesos, Jessica Cline, and Amy (Chris) Barcus; his grandson, Brent Kimball; and his great-grandchildren, Bailey, Aidan, Hannah, Cole, Kendal, Madison, Brody, and Avery. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 PM at the Victory Life Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM. Pastor Jason Romine will officiate.
