john wells, sr.
John "Jack" Wells, Sr., 71, of Weirton, WV passed away June 20, 2016 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, with his family by his side. Jack was born in Baltimore, MD on December 14, 1944, a son of the late Harold and Maxine Wells. He was also preceded in death by his sister JoAnn McHugh. After 38 years of service, Jack retired from Weirton Steel where he served as a Senior Buyer in the purchasing department. He also worked at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort for eight years. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name and Knights of Columbus 3734. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoAnn Wells; two sons, John Wells, Jr. of Weirton and Mark Wells of Willoughby, OH. Also surviving are his biggest pride and joy; three grandchildren, Amanda, Macie and Gavin Wells of Willoughby, OH and brother Eddie (Patty) Wells of Tampa, FL. Jack will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren. His kindness, loyalty, strength, sense of life, love of God and respect for others will always be remembered. Jack enjoyed Pittsburgh sports, Big Red football, was an avid jogger and loved coaching area kids. He had a special love for music, especially the genres of oldies, country, classical and spiritual. He especially liked sharing his music cd's with family, friends and JoAnn's sorority sisters. If you were to ask Jack his favorite song, he would say "every song is my favorite song". Friends will be received Thursday 4-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.

Jack and Bloomer were so funny and always made our days happy to be at work. You don’t hear that often these days. When I was young and just got off the bus sometimes he would walk up water tank hill and always tell me to be safe walking the rest of the way home. He was very soft spoken and so nice.And of course years ago you and I worked together and I got to see what s good husband he was to you. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
