John V. Brown, 77 of New Castle, Pa. died November 3, 2000 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. He was a retired engineer with the Penn Central Railroad, with 45 years service. During Mr. Brown's employment with the railraod, he served as General Chairman of the United Transportation Union of Philadelphia for 6 years. He was a member of St. Camillus Catholic Church of New Castle, Pa. He was a WWII veteran where he served in the US Army Air Corps in the Phillipines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 343, K of C 3734, BPOE 1801, Brotherhood of Local Firemen Engineers, and Primetimers John loved his grandchildren and enjoyed sports. He was born May 11, 1923 in Bulger, Pa., the son of the late Cornellius V. Brown and Kathryn Penderville Brown. He was also preceeded in death by his first wife, Rita Jayne Fagan in 1990. Mr. Brown is survived by his second wife, Eleanor Hardy Ferrell Brown, two sons, John V. (Butch) Brown and his wife Wendy of Port Charlotte, Fla., William F. (Bill) Brown and his wife Billie Jean of Wilmington, Pa. One stepson, William Ferrell and his wife Chris from Texas. One daughter Mrs. Ricky Kathy Bee Fedak of Royal Palm Beach, Fla. Two sisters Mrs. James Rose Marie Allen of Weirton, WV, and Mrs. Thomas Margaret Ann Whyte of Upper St. Clair, Pa. two grandsons, three granddaughters, one step granddaughter and several neices and nephews. Calling hours are 1-3 & 7-9 PM, Sunday, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, WV. A wake service will be held Sunday at 2:30 PM in the funeral home. Funeral litrugy with Mass will be Monday, November 6, 2000, at 10:00AM at St. Paul' s Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Burgettstown, Pa.
