Joseph Garan. 85, of Weirton, passed away September 23, 2008 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1923 in Ramey, PA, the son of the late John Garan and Martha Goban Garan Lisich. His brothers, John Garan, Bill Pasternak and sisters, Ann Pasternak Gerbo and Helen Vincej also preceded him death. Joseph retired from the Weirton Steel Company with 46 years of service. He was a crane repairman in the Strip Steel Electrical Department. He was a member of St Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Weirton, the Weirton Moose, the Weirton Elks 1801, the VFW Post 2716, and the American Legion Post 10. Joe served his country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stimpak Garan of Weirton; son, Richard Garan and his wife Lillian of Imperial, PA; daughter, Dolores Rose of Weirton; brothers, Mike Garan and George Garan both of Weirton; and sister Mary Perozich of NC. Visitation will be Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton where a parastas service will be held at 8:00PM Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral with Mass will be Friday, 10:00 AM at St Mary's Byzantine Church.   1. Margaret and Rick , Mike and George, I am so sorry to hear of your loss . Joe was one of my uncle Jacks best friends. They loved to play cards and talk about old times. Joe was one of my Dads biggest supporters. Needless to say he built my bar in my home and it was the best one in all of Weirton. He was so proud of it. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
