Joseph Harda, 73, of Weirton, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Trinity Medical Center West. Born February 27, 1931 in Steubenville, OH, he is the son of the late Frank and Sophie (Scehi) Harda. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother Frank S. Harda and three infant siblings. Joseph attended the Weirton Free Methodist Church. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp. in 1982 where he worked in the BOP Mechanical and Caster. He served 2 terms as an ISU Steward in the BOP Mechanical, was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and served in the US Navy. Joseph loved to work in his garden. Joseph’s survivors include his wife Dolores (Dee) Harda of Weirton; sons, Joseph A. “Jabo” and his wife Satona of New Cumberland, Wayne A. and his wife Cindy of Richmond, OH and Douglas J. and his wife Michelle of Weirton; daughter, Jodi L. Harda of Paris, PA; grandchildren Mark and LaRon Harda, Wayne J. and Matthew Harda, AnnaMarie Gardner and Jordan Rogers; and great-granddaughter Courtney Robinson. Friends will be received Thursday 7-9PM and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday with Pastor James Randas presiding. Burial will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Paris, PA. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Weirton Free Methodist Church, 300 School Street, Weirton, WV 26062.   3. I talked to your dad a few weeks ago and he told me his ticker was just about gone but I was still surprised the other day when my brother, Scott , called and told me Big Joe had passed away. He will always be Big Joe to me and even though I haven’t kept in touch when I was home and saw him he always had a big smile and hug. Sorry he is gone and will surely be missed.
