Joseph John Horvath
January 5, 1926 ~ April 30, 2011
Joseph John Horvath, 85, of Weirton, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born January 5, 1926 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Louis and Mary Szegedy Horvath. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Louis, David, William and George Horvath and sisters Irene Hicks, Mary Toth and Julie Horvath.
With 45 years of service, Mr. Horvath retired from the General Office of Weirton Steel where he served as Supervisor of the Accounting Department. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, WSX 25-Year Club, St. Paul Holy Name Society and AARP. He was very active in his high school reunion committee and always enjoyed building and rebuilding his computer.
Joseph is survived by his wife Kathleen Daugherty Horvath of Weirton; sons Thomas Horvath and his wife Marty of New Jersey and John Horvath of Weirton; daughters Karen Wheeler and her husband Tony of Charleston, WV and Jackie Lewis and her husband Don of Singapore, Asia and grandchildren Elizabeth, Joseph and Jennifer Rose Horvath and Katie and Brandon Lewis.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Thursday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
I was only a little girl the last time I seen or talked to you but I remember coming to your house all the time to play.I really enjoyed those times.I’m sorry those days had to come to an end to early in our lives.I would of loved to keep in touch with my family.Rip Joe

We are very sorry to hear that Joe has passed away. I know he when to Heaven. I worked with Joe at the Sheet Mill for many years and he was always a perfect gentleman.

Joe was one of the best bosses I had at Weirton Steel. He taught me so much about accounting. I was so sad to hear of his passing and unfortunately I didn’t hear of it until after the funeral. I am so sorry for your loss.
