  2. My heartfelt sympathies are with the family. Joe was always my good friend in school and we had many great times, all of us who grew up together. May you find comfort in your shared times and may the memories stay close to your hearts.

  3. God Bless you Joey. You were the best friend anyone could hope for. You were a creative genius as I witnessed your ability to create some of the best golf course grading plans and golf courses that have ever been designed. Your talent and passion for your craft was an inspiration. Adrienne and I will miss you dearly. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to your family. May you rest in peace.

  4. Rena, I am in Nashville this week so will not be able to visit with you but I will be thinking of you and your family. Love, Michelle 💖💖💖💖💖

  5. Joe was a talented course designer, fun to be around, great part of our team at Gary Player Design. He is missed. Jim Applegate

  6. My deepest sympathy to your family. I’ve known Joey since he worked at Willams Country Club over 30 years ago or so. What a wonderful kind soul he had, loved his family and friends. I moved to Weirton in 1983 and he was one of my best friends then, whether we went out to DeeJays, to the old Marriott by the airport dancing, golfing or just hanging out at our house on Marland Heights, we had a lot of fun together. When he moved to Florida my friend and I went down to visit him and always enjoyed his company! He used to call me “ Bunny” have no idea where the nickname came from but ran into him at a Toronto football game a couple years ago, happened to be standing right beside me along the fence and took me by surprise by saying “ Hi Bunny!” Of all the places to be at the game, I was thrilled to run into him! Joey was a great friend who I will really miss. He was so talented at what he did , so smart, hard working and just a great all around person. Rest In Peace my dear friend! With much love, Sherri Barber aka “Bunny”

  7. Joey and I met at WVU, we bartended together at The Dungeon. I was living in Florida working as a Recreational Therapist when Joey got the job at GPD and he bunked with me and a friend while he got set up. We had a WVU group in WPB and we compared ourselves to a long running Friends episode. Holidays and Hurricanes were spent together. Adding friends and significant others along the way to our group. When Tim and I started dating Duc’s would say careful Zuman she’s Bent grass in Florida. A joke only two Golf Course Architects would understand. We loved his laugh, his silly side and his ability to crack us up! We all loved to break bread at each others apartments, often only a few doors down from each other. Our deepest sympathy to all who loved and adored him. An artist, a music man, a friend.

  8. Heartbroken to hear this. Met Joey in Morgantown and can honestly say couldn’t have meet a gentler soul. He had a way. Always had me smiling or laughing . To this day, 30+ years later, I Often look back on one particular round of golf with Joe at Woodview and shake my head…and laugh.. God Bless you Joey and your family.
