June Adele Goettel Ayers, 61, of Weirton, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was born March 7, 1956 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Palma Goettel. She was also preceded in death by her brother Charles Goettel. For 38 years, June worked as an office assistant for Weirton Medical Center and was an active member of the Mercy Baptist Church who organized many events for the church. An avid Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Nailers fan, she loved gathering with family and friends. June is survived by her son Thomas Ayers and daughter Julia Ayers both of Weirton; brothers William (Delcie) Goettel of Fairmont, WV and James (Donna) Goettel; sisters Angela Goettel and Natalie (Harold) Beatty all of Follansbee, WV; lifelong friend, Susie Collins and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4-8pm Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 11am Friday. Interment will be held at the convenience of June's family.
