  8. Aunt Katie was always dressed to the 9’s and was always so happy to see us! I’m glad my girls and nieces/nephews were able to meet her (their great great Aunt Katie). What a full life she lived. May she now rest peacefully with her parents and siblings. Memory Eternal ☦️ Kim (Rohal) & Tony DiGiandomenico

  9. Aunt Katie’s obituary gives the facts: She lived to be 99 years old. She was one of nine children. She retired after 30 years, as assistant manager of the Weirton Steel Works Federal Credit Union. . . . But there was so much more. While she never married, she cared for her ailing parents for years in her own apartment. She was there for her extended family of 28 nephews and nieces (and even more grand-nephews and nieces). And she was active in her church community, again, helping others. All of us have our own personal memories of Katie, but mine are of occasional visits to Weirton as I was growing up in a military family – often visiting on our travels to somewhere else. And those visits were memorable because they were always full of food! Traditional, Slovak food! And lots of laughter. After I was grown, she would make it a point to visit my growing family on her annual February trips to Washington, DC for the national federal credit union conference – we always had a fun time on those visits! After she retired, the visits were less frequent – generally at weddings all over the country, and again they were always as fun affairs. And later, the most memorable was a gathering for her 90th birthday in Weirton where we went out to a big birthday dinner in Pittsburgh with lots of family. While she didn’t raise a family of her own, she was always there for many others. And towards the end, others were there for her, especially her nephew Bob Rohal, his wife Nancy, and Katie’s best friend of 60 years, Betty Williamson. They made certain that she had what she needed when she couldn’t care for herself. Her obituary says she died peacefully. She deserves peace in the heaven above for a rich life, well-lived and well-loved. JOHN KAMENSKY

  10. Kathryn was a long and dear friend of my mother, Catherine Glorious, who passed about 20 years ago. She was a classy lady who was frequently at my parent’s home. My four children remembered her and were sad to hear she had passed. Used to think about her whenever I would go to Weirton and wondered what had happened to her. My sister, who lives in California, would also inquire about Kathryn. My favorite memory of her was the delightful, colored Easter eggs she would help us make as kids. Glad to know she had a long, productive life. Mary Lucille Smith and Cecilia Glorious

  11. Sorry to hear about Kay. I worked with her at Steel Works Community Federal Credit Union and she was a nice person. My sympathies go out to her family. God Bless, Dennis Mohoroski
