lamone glyptis

Lamone Glyptis, 70, of Weirton, WV, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of the Greek Orthodox Communities passed away on February 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Born on March 5, 1953, in Weston, WV, Lamone was one of two children born to Pamphilos “Phillip” and Hypathia “Betty” Xenakis Sellas. Lamone’s journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to her family and an unwavering faith.

After graduating from Lewis County High School, in Weston, WV, Lamone pursued higher education at WVU, where fate brought her together with Ted Glyptis. Their love story began when Ted, a senior at WVU, first laid eyes on Lamone while she was singing in the Church Choir. Ted saw in her a beautiful angel with a radiant glow, and their connection blossomed into a lifelong love.

On June 17, 1973, Lamone and Ted were married at her cherished St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Clarksburg, WV, where she had spent many years as an active member. Through the years, they were blessed with two sons, a daughter and five grandchildren.

Lamone was an active member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, WV, and continued her involvement with the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Clarksburg. Her dedication extended to the youth of the church, where she played an integral role in the G.O.Y.A. and various Greek Youth Groups.

Outside of her church commitments, Lamone took on numerous responsibilities with grace and enthusiasm. She was instrumental in coordinating behind-the-scenes efforts for her children’s sports activities, demonstrating her commitment to their passions.

Lamone’s organizational prowess was further evident as she chaired the All Saints Centennial Celebration and served as a member in the Ladies Philoptochos Society of both the Weirton and Clarksburg Greek Churches. She was also a member of the Parish Council. Her dedication to the church was recognized in 2020 when she was honored with the prestigious Saint Photios Award.

Beyond her church activities, Lamone found joy in her participation in the PICPA Women’s Group, where she formed lasting friendships.

Lamone Glyptis will be remembered as a woman of strength, compassion, and unyielding devotion to her family, faith, and community. Her selfless nature was apparent as she always put others first.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, including her husband Theodore G. “Ted” Glyptis, her sons, Gus and Valerie Glyptis, and Phillip and Stephanie Glyptis; her daughter, Angela and Jacob Myers; her brother, Steve and Irene Sellas; her grandchildren, Teddy, Betty, Abigail, Giuliana, and Aria; and her numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
