Lena Ann McFadden, 91, of Weirton, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born March 18, 1919 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano "Guy" and Maria "Mary" Frankina Gazia. She was also preceded in death by her husband Douglas C. Freshour on November 2, 1957 and George Edward McFadden, on October 24, 1978; brothers, Joseph Gazia, Tony Gazia who was killed in World War II, and five infant brothers; sisters, Connie Ceraolo and Theresa Veltri. During World War II, Lena worked as a Tin Sorter for Weirton Steel. She was a licensed beautician in Philadelphia, PA, Florida and West Virginia and was considered one of Steubenville's expert seamstresses. She enjoyed attending St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, cooking, planting flowers and dancing. She found great solace in reading the Bible. Mrs. McFadden is survived by her sisters, Frances Klaric of Weirton, Joan Mikita of Steubenville, OH, Yolanda Kraft and her husband Charles of Weirton and Stella Mariam "Babe" Salerno and her husband Frank, Jr. also of Weirton and numerous nieces and nephews. Per Mrs. McFadden's request, private visitation and funeral services were held 11 AM Thursday October 28, 2010. Rev. Larry Dorsch presided. Interment followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery, New Cumberland, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
