Linda Jeanne Barney, 70, of Follansbee, WV, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020, in the Weirton Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Robert Howard and Helen Patricia Giles Walker. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Barney, and sister Carolyn Moore. Linda was a Licensed Practical Nurse with over 35 years of service in the long-term care industry. A devout, proud, Christian, she taught Sunday School and volunteered for the food pantry at the Empire Methodist Church. Linda loved to crochet and dance. A loving person who always knew how to make someone laugh; she especially enjoyed working in her flower garden. Her children described Linda as a feisty and filter-free individual. Her love for life and family was evident through her actions and continuous selfless acts she bestowed upon people. Left to cherish her memory is her son Adam (Marygrace) Barney of Follansbee; daughters Carrie (Lance) Tilton of Wintersville, OH, Meredith (Eric) Whitaker of Macon, GA and Sarah Holland of Steubenville; sisters Nancy (Gary) DiBiase of Wintersville and Janet Adamczyk of Weirton; grandchildren Bethany Sutherland, Savannah Tilton, Samantha, William, Nicholas, and Stephanie Barney. Friends will be received Wednesday 6-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11 am Thursday. Pastor Frank Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. Visitors are encouraged to wear masks inside the funeral home during calling hours to adhere to Covid-19 social distancing precautions. The funeral home politely asks that, after paying respects, visitors not to linger to allow others to pay their respects.
