With his loving wife, son and family by his side, Luis Bruno, 57, of Weirton, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home. Born December 3, 1951 in Belmonte Calabro, Italy, he was a son of Innocenza Porco Bruno of Weirton and the late Giuseppe Bruno. He was also preceded in death by his brother Anthony. Luis retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a Millwright in the Hot Mill Department. He also worked for Horsehead Corporation and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Being very artistic, Luis enjoyed carving knives and loved painting for his family and friends. He was a true Steeler Fan. In addition to his mother, Luis is survived by his wife Gerry Harris Bruno; son Lance Luis Bruno; brother Frank Bruno and sister Theresa McCombs and her husband Harold all of Weirton. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. The family requests that friends meet at the church for the 9:30AM services. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.

He and our brother Frank (Gomer) became very close friends and Luis spent quite a bit of time at our home growing up. He always had a smile, a laugh and we have such warm, fond memories of him. May the Lord embrace you with peace and His love and may you have the hope that Luis will be waiting for you at his new home on your arrival…with his paintings on the walls.

  9. Luis bought hardwood from my sawmill and made many impressive things. About this time every year, Luis would bring me a bottle of his wine and buy some oak hardwood. We would discuss his projects. It was a sincere pleasure to know Luis and I will miss him. Tony Pawlosky
