Margaret Anne Hawthorne, 87, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Weirton Geriatric Center.
Born December 10, 1929 in Welch, WV, she was a daughter of the late George and Cora Dickens. She was also preceded in death by her husband John D. Hawthorne and infant sister Betty Jean.
Margaret worked as a teacher's aide for Hancock County Schools. She was a long time den mother for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and enjoyed spending time volunteering at Weirton Medical Center. She attended the First Christian Church in Weirton.
She is survived by her four sons John (Leta) Hawthorne of Brooksville, FL, James "Mike" (Mishal) Hawthorne of Weirton, Robert (Carol) Hawthorne of Hickory, PA and Richard (Lori) Hawthorne of Weirton; grandchildren Johnny, Kim, Shawn, Sara, Beth Ann, Robert, Rhonda, Brooke, Erin and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 3 until the time of funeral services at 7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Reverend Kevin Bowers will officiate.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Blake and Mike Its hard to find the words that describes your mom. All I can say is what a testament to the Lord. She is one of the pillars holding up the First Christian Church. She lived a full life following the Lord and is now with him. Days will pass, but please hold on to those memories you have. God Bless you both and my prayers are with you and your family.
