With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mark “Blue” Cercone, who died on June 25, 2025, following a brief illness. He was 64 years old.
Born on January 8, 1961, in Weirton, West Virginia, Mark was the youngest of two children born to the late John “Blue Grass” Cercone, Jr. and Helen Palumbo Cercone.
Mark’s early years were spent in Weirton, where he attended Saint Paul’s Grade School and later graduated with the Class of 1979 from Weirton Madonna High School.
He pursued a career in information technology, earning credentials as a Network Engineer. Over the years, he built a successful career dedicated to the ever-evolving world of tech, always committed to solving problems and helping others along the way.
Though accomplished professionally, it was Mark’s personality and heart that truly made him unforgettable. He was the life of the party. Humble by nature and generous in spirit, he had a heart of gold that touched everyone he met. Mark had a soft spot for animals, especially the pets he adopted from local shelters.
Mark embraced the simple pleasures in life: cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching NASCAR races, enjoying rounds of golf, and spending time with those he loved. He adored his niece and nephews—Kady (Parker) Chivington, John, Carly, and Alec Andrew—and treated them as if they were his own children.
.
He will be remembered with love by his sister, Lori (Jeff) Andrew, and their children, Kady (Parker) Chivington, John, Carly, and Alec
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembering and celebrating Mark’s life at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4 PM until 7 PM.

Dear Lori and family, our deepest sympathies to all of you. We will pray for mark and pray he rests in peace.
Far too many laughs to mention here but 1st one that popped in was everyone at our house for an early dismissal for a snow day and for some unknown reason, to me anyway but sure you had yours😁, you decided that Duane’s coal black cat 🐈⬛ needed to be floured! Yes FLOURED lol. When I couldn’t keep Mai Tai hidden and the dastardly deed was over, with that cat (yep pun intended 😉) swallowed the canary, grin “I just wanted to know what he’d look like white!” Ok so now it makes sense Blue!!
You are already terribly missed and we love(d) you deeply🩵 Carole, Duane and Ronnie from your umpteenth home❣️
