Mary E. Peters

Mary E. Peters, 88, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in the Acuity Hospital, Steubenville, OH. Born November 24, 1924 in Monessen, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pauline Assel McGavitt. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Harry, Michael and William McGavitt and sister Dorothy Brown.
For several years, Mary worked in the housekeeping department of Williams Country Club and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her son Robert M. Peters, Jr. and his wife Arlene of Weirton; grandchildren Robert (Carie) Peters and Michael Peters; great-grandchild Madelyn Peters; two nephews and three nieces.
Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 11 until the 12pm funeral service at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3432 West Street, Weirton with the Reverend Michael L. Heckathorn officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
I saw your mother several times when I would be at Freedom Place. She would always brighten up when I told her my Bob worked with her Bob. She was a lovely lady. Bob and I send you and your family all our sympathy, love and prayers.
Although we called her Aunt Mary, Mary Peters was like a grandmother to me, John, Nathan, Zachary and Benjamin. She was a huge part of our lives and has given us so much. We cant imagine what life would have been like without her at our weddings, holidays, baptisms, birthdays, communions, grad parties, etc. Always with her baking, joking and most of all her wonderful laughing. We all love her very much and she will forever be in our hearts and memories. Our sympathy to Bob, Arlene and family. Rest in Peace dear Aunt Mary after a long life well lived!
