Mary Margaret Lucas, 92, of Weirton, WV died Saturday July 5, 2008 at her home. She was born on May 6, 1916 in Jeanette, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Mae Steppe Kelly. She was also prceded in death by her husband John N. Lucas on December 31, 1983, brother Charles Kelly and sisters Iva M. Colesante and Elen Koper. Mary was an employed by the Phelps Can Company where she was a tester. She also retired from the Hancock County School System where she was a custodian for Weir High School. When Mary was not working, she enjoyed gardening, where she was known for her "green thumb". Mary was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, and the AARP. Mary is survived by her two sons, Jerome and Marian Lucas of Weirton, John T. Lucas also of Weirton; her two daughters, Janet Lucas of Charleston, WV and Judith and James Kerrigan of Dunbar, WV; her two grandchildren, Susan and Scott Swanson and Stephen Lucas; her four great grandchildren, Lorelei and Seth Rhodes, Charles Swanson, Evan and Nico Lucas. Visitation will be 4-8PM Tuesday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted 11AM Wednesday. Pastor James Rhodes will preside. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Hospice, the Alzheimer Association or the American Cancer Society.
