Mary “Mutzie” Dopudja, 94, of Chester, passed away peacefully at Weirton Medical Center on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Born in Weirton on July 10, 1930, Mary was one of five children born to Joseph and Mildred Ribar Rojak. A proud graduate of Weir High School, Class of 1948, she dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker and the heart of her family.

Family was everything to her, and she ensured no one ever left her home hungry. She cherished the tradition of reserving one day each week for family gatherings. In addition, her home was the heart of the holiday celebrations, filled with joy, tradition, and the aroma of lovingly prepared meals.
Among the many blessings in her life, Mary treasured her lifelong friendship with Erma Stanar, with whom she shared countless memories and unwavering support.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bronko Dopudja, son, Nicholas Dopudja, daughter Carol Dopudja, sisters, Daisy Billcheck and Ann Robinson, and brothers Nick Rojak and Sam Bosnic.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Michael Dopudja and Jon (Tina) Dopudja, all of Chester, grandchildren Brandy Castillo, Autumn (Matt) Hish, Dylan and Chantz Dopudja, great-grandchildren Apphia and Gianni Castillo, Reagan, and Gunnar Hish.

I can only say what a wonderful woman – strong and kind! She raised an exceptional family. No matter what was going on in her life – she never let that show in her interactions with others. She remained the absolute kindness warrior! Her memory lives on in her beautiful family. Jon and Michael and families – thinking of you and offering a wish for peace and God’s blessings. Well done, Mutzie!

Mike, Jon, Tina and family you have my sincerest condolences and sympathy for the loss of your dear mother, Mutzie. I have the fondest memories of spending time at her house and enjoying all the amazing food she fed us so many times; so many years ago. She was always very kind to me and all the other window crew and I will never forget her smile, laugh, and wit. May she rest in peace.
Kindest regards,
