Mildred M. Danford, 81, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Born January 13, 1929 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Anna Yakunich. She was also preceded in death by her husband George R. Danford on July 17, 2003, brothers Frank and Pete "Jock" Porec and sisters Kathryn Matask and Mary Ann Bolan. Mrs. Danford was a homemaker, a member of the Salvation Army, where she was a member of the Home League. A foundation member and supporter of the Hancock County Animal Shelter, Mildred enjoyed baking, crocheting, working Sudoku puzzles and watching TV especially the Food Network Channel. Mildred is survived by her son George R. Danford and his wife Ruth Ann of New Manchester, WV; brothers Louis Yakunich and John Porec both of Weirton and sister Margaret "Babe" Robinson and her husband Teddy of Colliers, WV; and her beloved cat, Sassy. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday. Major Lamar Foreman will officiate. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Animal Shelter, P. O.
