  1. Dear family members, be sure of our prayers for you during this time of transition. “The Eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” God Bless!

  2. Mrs. Short was a beautiful Christian woman and had a big impact on my life. She was wonderful to me when I got married and during my baby shower for Brooks. I will greatly miss her but rejoice for her because of her entering into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. I send my condolences to the family and I am in prayer for them.

  3. Dear Mary Ethel, Bill and the boys, Sorry to hear of your mama’s death you know she is not suffering and she is with her Lord, who she spoke about so much. I know these days are difficult and you will have other hard days, just rest in God’s peace. I know you and Virginia will remain close in these days. Which we could be there, we are praying for you and the rest of the family. Can you see your mama playing spoons with Jesus, in the heavenly band.? I know she will be trying when she quits talking.

  4. To the family: Jeff and I will be praying for you during these days. Mrs. Short was a wonderful Christian lady, her testimony had an influence on both of us.

  5. To Nellie’s Family: What precious and treasured memories we have of your dear mother – especially playing the spoons at the Retired Officer’s Christmas parties!! She was always so full of life and a joy to be around. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. We send this note with our love too Don and Connie Canning

  6. As I reflect on Major Nellie, I shall never forget the “fun” we had in Weirton with both of the Majors, but especially with Major Nellie teaching the Cadets how to be lively and enjoy life. She had so much energy and life about her and now she is using all that energy with her Saviour. Praying for you

  7. I thank the Lord for the opportunity to meet Major Short. She was a wonderful woman of God and a delight to talk to.

  8. I count it an honor to have been Nellie and Earl’s Corps Officer in Anniston, Al. I know that she and Earl and Betty are enjoying the presence of the Lord today. Praise His name!

  9. We’re thinking of you at this time and wishing you;comfort and peace. Debbie,Mike,Mindy,Josh,&Chris

  10. I do thank God for the life of Mrs. Major Nellie Short. She was a precious lady…loved by those she came in contact with…immediately!!! I will always remember her laughter, her smile, her sweet spirit and for always caring for others. During the last few years she had to ‘slow down’, but yet, she was still a ‘prayer warrior’ and I know she was praying for me. She was such a encourager and always making me feel good. May God continue to bless the family and give you such precious memories to lean on.

  11. We will never forget the fellowship that we had with them when we were stationed in the Md and WVA Division. We loved both of them and will never forget them. Our prayers are with you all. We can hear Nellie playing the spoons in the Heavenly Band. The Johnstons

  12. Prayers for the family as you deal with the loss of Mrs. Major Short-she will be missed.

  13. I send my sympathy to the family of Mrs. Short. I assisted Major and Mrs. Short when they were stationed in Annapolis in 1975. I grew to love and respect them both. My prayer are with the family and rejoice that Mrs. Short is now home at rest with Jesus.

  14. Regret we couldn’t be at the service, but we were participants at the memorial service for Oliver Michels. We remember both Earl and Nellie fondly: he for his great voice and her for playing the spoons! We learned many things from being close to them. How coulld we not, they were in all four of our appointments in MDWV prior to us! We are praying for the family and have our corps doing the same. God bless. Lamar & Louise Foreman
