Nancy Kay Armantrout, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 13, 2025, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was 77 years old.
Born on May 2, 1948, in Three Rivers, Michigan, Nancy was a daughter of the late Vanita “Imogene” McPherson.
In November 1964, fate brought Nancy together with Gary Armantrout through mutual friends. Their connection was immediate and unwavering, and on July 17, 1965, they were united in marriage. Their 51 years of marriage were a testament to enduring love, shared dreams, and steadfast companionship. Together, they raised four daughters and were blessed with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In 1973, the Armantrout family relocated to Iowa due to Gary’s work, and in 1980, they made Blair, Oklahoma their home when Gary pursued his dream of running his own construction business. Nancy stood beside him every step of the way—not only managing the household and raising their daughters but also joining him on job sites and handling the company’s books. Her strength, work ethic, and devotion to family shone through in everything she did.
Nancy’s life was full of simple joys and outdoor adventures. She found relaxation and pleasure in crocheting, needlepoint, fishing, and camping. She especially loved mowing the lawn on the family tractor and transforming the family’s work truck into a makeshift camper for weekend getaways. In her younger days, she was an avid bowler who enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of the lanes.
In addition to her mother, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Armantrout, on February 14, 2017, and by her daughter, Tracy Lindsey, on April 13, 2014.
She is survived by her daughters: Tabatha (Brian) Herchuck, Tina Armantrout, and Torria Gonzalez; son in law, Tim Lindsey; her sister, Nora; her grandchildren: Ashley (Matt) Cornwell, Annette (Allen) Short, Julia (Aaron) Hamilton, Sierra Arsenault, and Skyler Gonzalez; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Brantley LeJeune, Rhyker Arsenault, and Clarissa Short.
In accordance with her wishes, Nancy will be cremated and laid to rest at Morgan Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan, beside her husband.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
