  1. Butchy you were the brother I never had. I remember all the good times we had growing up. I love you and I will never forget you. Don’t walk to fast so someday I can catch up. Kum Mike

  2. Sometimes in life… even those of us unworthy of such an honor; get the rare opportunity to cross paths with a soul like that of Nick’s. A man who seemed to somehow enrich every life he touched: no matter how brief the opportunity. It has been my honor to have had that chance crossing of paths with you Nick, and a greater honor to know my son(Shaye) will always have the richness of your ancestory and the pleasure of deriving in part; from such a great soul. I will bare the cross of my regrets for the rest of my life; but I promise to you and too Dorothy, that I will do everything in my power to raise Shaye to be as great a man a you were… a man you would be honored to call your grandson. My heart goes out to all who loved or ever knew Nick… we are at a great loss. God has called home an angel.

  3. Dorothy and family. We were shocked to hear of Nick’s passing. He was a good man, and a good friend and co-worker. He will be missed. You are all in our prayers.

  6. WE WANT TO WISH YOU OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY. WE WILL NEVER FORGET NICK, HE WAS A GREAT GUY. RICH ALWAYS ENJOYED WORKING WITH HIM. YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

  7. What comes to mind when I think of you? Turning the television channels with a pair of pliers, Buffy, always joking and laughing. Always picking on me for being a Hoopie. Watching you play your music and watching you teach your children the same. A man proud of his heritage. A good neighbor and friend. I think of roast lamb. I think of waiving to my neighbor at the end of the alley. I think of my very first nickname. I think of a great person that I have been so very lucky to have met, to have been a part of my life and for giving me such great memories, too numerous to list. Thank you. Love, Gina Belina

  8. To the Zatezalo family, My dear teacher and friend, Butchie, touched my life and so many others through his patience and guidance, in teaching me the Serbian music culture when I was young. It was an honor to be a part of the tamburitzans under his direction. I have returned over the years to the Tammie concerts and am always so proud to see the children continue this tradition. I was so touched to see Butchie’s appreciation at the 25th Tamburitzan Reunion. I am also glad that I got to know him as a friend in the PK choir, in church, and to see him play in his orchestra. Butch touched so many lives and I will miss seeing him when I return “home” to Weirton & Steubenville. May God grant you strength at this sad time. Sincerely, Kathy Volosin Maragos

  16. Dear Dorothy and Family, Just wanted to send my condolences to your family. I didn’t know Butch to see him out–unless he was with Dorothy but every year when baseball starts out at Paris, our son, Brice, hears the story from Donnie how his parents did not attend his practices or games–and how Mr. Zatezalo would get him to the fields. That is a memory that has Donnie has kept with him for almost 30 years. Brice and I are thankful. You’re all in our thoughts. Yours truly, Lisa Hickey

  17. Do-Do,I don’t know what to say.I can only think of the times we had together back in Washington, along with Charlie and Judy.It was a special time in my life, made more so, by Nick.

  18. Thanks to Uncle Sam I got to know a friend known as Nick Zatezalo. That was around 46 years ago and we have kept in contact ever since then. Nick was one of the best friends anyone could ever have. I will miss him,and all the good times we shared….. Charlie I guess the fondest memories I have of Zat is when he married you Do-Do & you moved to Mccord AFB where we were stationed, we have a lot of good and maybe a few not so good memories as we tried to survive life in the Air Force as newly weds! Both couples had our first born there, and eventually were seperated as we returned to our hometowns. Our friendship has survived all these years, mostly by phone & E-mail, but oh, how we would like to pick up the phone right now, just to hear one more time… Hi, this is Zat!!! We loved him dearly,he was very special guy in our lives. Our Love to you Do-Do,& to the kids and Grandkids I know their fond memories of Zat will help them throught this sad time too. Judy

  19. To Denise Stewart and the whole Zatezalo family, our deepest sorrows and all our Prayers for your comfort and healing. Bob & Jan
