Olin L. Smearman, 83 of Burgettstown, Pa., died Sunday, January 05, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born September 5, 1919 in Accident Maryland, the son of the late Rev James and Sarah Bell Switzer Smearman. Four brothers, George, Luther, Mervin and Clarence Smearman, and two Sisters Mabel Debwitt, and Beulah Brake also preceded him. Olin retired from the Weirton Steel Company where he had 47 years of service. He was superintendent of the roll shop in the Tin Mill Department. He was a member and past president of the Weirton Steel 25-year club, Weirton Elks, the Weirton Masonic Lodge #171, the Osiris Shriners of Wheeling, and AARP. Olin was a member of the First Methodist Church in Weirton. Throughout his life he was active with the youth, coaching for the Weirton Little League Baseball Association. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Refereeā€™s Association. He referred for high school basketball games and umpired for many high schools baseball games throughout the Ohio Valley. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eva Doak Smearman of Burgettstown, Pa., one daughter Sierra (Sue) Kennedy and her husband Edward of Burgettstown, one brother William Smearman of Morgantown, WV, and one sister Evelyn Moore of Junior, WV. Olin has two grandchildren Edward Olin Kennedy and his wife Linda of Weirton and Deborah Anne Bowen of Steuart, Fl. He has three great grandchildren Matthew Lee Georgetti, Jessica Leigh and Jacob Edward Kennedy. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 7, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton.
