Phyllis Ann Manley, 87, of Weirton, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Acuity Specialty Hospital, Weirton. She was born July 9, 1929 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Donald H. and Ruth E. Johnson Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her brother David L. Thomas. For 17 years, Mrs. Manley was a teacher for the Hancock County Board of Education. She was a member of the Cove Presbyterian Church, Myrtle McHendry Class, a former Session member and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. Phyllis is survived by her loving and devoted husband Hugh H. Manley of 58 years whom she married November 21, 1958; sons Donald Manley of Oakdale, PA and Mark (Josette) Manley of Weirton; daughters Ruthann (John) Eckersberg of Wellsburg, WV and Suzann (Derek) Stewart of Brunswick, ME; sister Lynda Scheer of Palm Desert, CA; grandchildren Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Ethan and Bryce Manley, Sophia Dermargosian, Christian and Liam Stewart, Robert Busick, Nichole Felouzis and John and Adam Eckersberg. Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10 until the 11am funeral services at Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton. The Reverend Dr. Ed Rudiger will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

If the old song is right about the line of people in heaven passing before us as we meet with Jesus her line stretches for miles and miles….She once talked to me of earning jewels in my crown..You mom has one of the biggest crowns of all now…she did in life as well…I thank you all for the moments she shared with me. Growing up on Maryland Heights meant that there were some staples of the community just up the street, and Phyllis certainly fit the bill. She was a great person and will be sadly missed. I (Pete) remember when she would bring “little” Suzann to the pool. I, also, remember the times that Mrs. Manley, Becky Psaroudis,, and I commuted to New Cumberland Junior High School.
