Robert Earl Lewis, age 77 of Weirton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Waynesburg Nursing and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Robert was born on July 28, 1948, in Steubenville, Ohio, and was the son of the late Edith Stemple Lewis and William Lewis.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Additionally, he served his country honorably with valor during the Vietnam War. He was an avid animal lover who cared for the homeless animals in the Weirton area.
He was beloved by his friends and family. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation after 33 years of faithful service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and William Lewis.
He was a Christian by faith and a member of the Tucker United Methodist Church in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Selmon of Vancouver, Washington, and three children. They are Jeffrey (Michele) Lewis of Steubenville, Meredith (Jeffrey) High of Weirton, and Steven (Julie) Lewis of Wintersville.
In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They include the following: Greg and Jacob High of Weirton, Tyson, Sadie, and Grayson Lewis of Wintersville, Mikayla (Elias) Nazi of Nashville, TN, and Skyler (Jessica) Pfouts of Minot, North Dakota.
Robert’s request for cremation will be honored.
He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. 26062.
No public visitation will be held.
Robert will be inurned at Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Animal Shelter, 715 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV, 26047.
