
Ronald Don Taflan Sr.

Ronald Don Taflan, Sr., 80, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born April 15, 1938 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Alexander Don and Julia Jackowski Taflan.
Ron retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a computer operator. He was a member of the Cove Presbyterian Church, WSX 25 Year Club and participated in several Weirton bowling leagues. Ron excelled at sports, but his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren play. Ron was also an ardent fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ola Murchland Taflan; sons Ronald (Mary Ann) Taflan and John (Tina) Taflan all of Weirton; daughters Rhonda (Patrick) Sample of Cincinnati, OH and Jennifer Dahlem of Pittsburgh, PA; brother Alexander Taflan of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Sean (Stephanie) Sample, Jordan Taflan, Rachel (Scott) Johnson, Tyler Taflan, Chelsey (Brandon) Boespflug, Sarah, Justin, Jarod, Joshua and Trenton Taflan and Ethan and Julian Dahlem; great grandchildren Logan and Beckett Sample and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday 4-8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday. Elder Roger A. Criss will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Animal Shelter, 715 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV 26047.

Mary Ola, I was so sad to hear about Ron’s death. He was a wonderful man. I am so blessed to have spent time with you two when I was a little girl. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sorry to learn of Ron’s passing. We grew up on Weircrest, my condolences to his family.
